Self-adhesive fiberglass joint tape

The union between yeso plates, plaster panels or drywall systems are subject to small structural movements, vibrations and temperature variations that can cause the appearance of cracks with the passage of time. To achieve durable and durable finishes, it is essential to use a specific solution for the strength of joints that helps to absorb these efforts and reduces the risk of agrietamiento.

The ATyT glass fiber adhesive tape has been developed to strengthen bonds between plates and repair cracks in dry smoking systems. Made with a high resistance glass fiber mesh and an acrylic adhesive of excellent adherence, this self-adhesive glass fiber allows a quick and simple installation, reducing working times and facilitating positioning before applying the paste for joints.

Thanks to its open structure, the glass fiber ribbon favors a perfect penetration of the mast, creating a solid union between the plates and improving the resistance of the finish. Its high dimensional stability avoids displacements during the installation and helps to prevent the appearance of new cracks, becoming a very effective solution for the repair of grinds in walls and technology.

The board tape is specially designed for work on cardboard-yeso boards and is widely used as a tape for yeso, tape for plasterboard boards and tape for drywalls in homes, commercial buildings, offices, hospitals, educational centers and industrial facilities. In addition, its excellent behavior against humidity and tolerance at extreme temperatures allow to obtain a professional and lasting finish in different working conditions.

AtyT we develop technical adhesive solutions for construction professionals, offering reliable products, easy to install and high performance. Our glass fiber adhesive tape provides a safe solution for the strength of joints, surface repair and obtaining durable and long-lasting finishes.

Success case fibreglass adhesive tape for joints

Miguel, the manager of a company specialising in interior refurbishments, contacted the ATyT team because he needed a solution to prevent cracks from appearing in the joints between plasterboards. On several building sites, they had noticed that, a few weeks after completion, some joints were beginning to crack due to minor structural movements in the building, forcing them to carry out repairs that increased costs and extended working times.

After analysing the type of installation and the materials used, our technical department recommended ATyT’s fibreglass adhesive tape for joints. Thanks to its high-strength fibreglass mesh and acrylic adhesive, the tape could be applied directly to the joint between panels, making the installer’s job easier before applying the joint compound and ensuring excellent reinforcement of the joint.

After incorporating self-adhesive fibreglass tape into all plasterboard and drywall joints, the company succeeded in improving the quality of the finishes and significantly reducing the occurrence of cracks. Furthermore, the tape’s excellent adhesion helped to speed up the installation process, whilst its high mechanical strength and tolerance to extreme temperatures ensured greater durability of the system, even in buildings subject to temperature fluctuations.

ATyT’s fibreglass joint tape has now become a standard material in all of the company’s drywall projects, whether in new-build or refurbishment work, enabling more robust, uniform and durable finishes.

Frequently asked questions

Fibreglass adhesive tape is used to reinforce joints between plasterboards, plasterboard panels and drywall systems, helping to prevent cracks from forming and improving the strength of the final finish.

The fibreglass mesh offers greater mechanical strength, excellent dimensional stability and quicker installation thanks to its acrylic adhesive, which allows the tape to be applied directly to the joint before applying the filler.

Yes. Self-adhesive fibreglass is a very effective solution for repairing cracks and small fissures in walls and ceilings, provided it is subsequently covered with the appropriate joint filler.

Yes. The joint tape for plasterboard is also fully compatible with drywall systems and laminated plasterboard, and is a common solution in all types of construction and renovation projects.

Yes. Fibreglass tape offers excellent resistance to extreme temperatures, maintaining its stability and reinforcing properties in a range of environmental conditions.

No. The joint tape is self-adhesive, so you simply need to position it centrally over the joint and then cover it with joint compound, making for a quick and easy installation process.

Self-adhesive fibreglass offers high tear resistance, excellent dimensional stability, good resistance to moisture and an excellent ability to absorb minor movements in the panels, thereby reducing the risk of cracks developing over time.

Because it combines excellent adhesion, high mechanical strength, resistance to extreme temperatures, quick installation thanks to its self-adhesive format, and effective joint reinforcement, providing more durable finishes in both new-build and refurbishment and maintenance projects.
